our classic program gives kids an exciting taste of putting on a show!
Music Theatre Boot Camp has been running since December 2011 when we hatched the idea of a school holiday program based around the skills of Music Theatre. The program was an immediate success and has run every school holiday since.
Our week long camps are for grouped ageds with a program aimed at primary aged kids and one aimed at older kids, up to 15 years. We provide a space for them to tap into their creative spirit. We create an nurturing environment where the children feel safe and supported in their expression. The program also shows kids how much they can achieve in just a week. They get to experience themselves within a tribe of like minded people and feel a sense of pride in achieving such a positive outcome. Music Theatre Boot Camp is also a great physical release.
Kids get to know each other and the space through games and exercises which also begin to explore the skills of Music Theatre. We then cast the show (everyone gets a part) and begin working on a short script, a dance routine and a song. By the end of the week there is a performance for kids, family and friends to enjoy.
SOME PROGRAM DETAILS
Music Theatre Boot Camp runs from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday. On Friday afternoon at 2.30pm there is always a performance for family and friends but keep in mind that seating is limited so come early.
There are a few breaks through the day between sessions so pack some healthy snacks as well as a sustaining lunch. A bottle of water is essential, especially in warm weather.
Ensure that your child wears comfortable clothing that allows them to move easily as they will do lots of stretching and moving.
WHERE WILL THE PROGRAM BE HELD?
Our Venues are selected to be secure, comfortable and private so the kids feel they can safely express themselves. Programs are usually held in the Fitzroy/Northcote area unless otherwise specified.

Carlton Scout Hall
12 Shakespeare Street Carlton
Programs run 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday. We will be there 15 minutes each side of the program times for drop-off/pick-up. The performance for Family and friends will be at 2.30pm on Friday in the same room as the program.
Comfortable clothing, appropriate to the weather outside. The studio has air-conditioning, but still heats up a little and gets cool depending on the weather. Clothing should allow easy movement and not be too precious as we will spend a bit of time on the floor.
Costuming for the performance will be quite basic and we may ask kids to look for something for their character to wear. We have no expectation that you will buy anything specific, just whatever is around that fits the bill.
We do not supply any food. Water is available all day. We will have numerous breaks through the day, so some healthy snacks are good. Also a lunch for the longer break. Kids should also bring a drink bottle of water which can be refilled at the studio.
